Shutting down the system via external switch contact
ℹ️ Available from version 5.5.1 (Gen1 and Gen2) |
Using a volt-free external switch contact (e.g. from an existing building or vehicle-side PLC), it is possible to automatically shut down the LARDIS Touch Wxx PC. The PC must be logged into the system for this function.
To do this, connect the switch contact between DSR (Pin 6) and DTR (Pin 4) on one of the serial RS-232 interfaces available on the LARDIS Touch Wxx PC (D-Sub9 / RJ45).
The serial interface used must be configured in the DeskConfig.ini file. This file is located at D:\Radio Desk Software or can be accessed via the network share \IP-ADRESS\Radio Desk Software, where [x] is the number of the respective LARDIS Touch PC. In this file, a line with the content shutdown@COM[x] must be added, where [x] is the number of the serial port used. If the entry already exists and is commented out with a hash symbol (#), the hash must be removed to activate it.
When the switch contact is closed, the system will shut down completely and safely. After the system has completely powered down (the status LED on the device changes from green to amber), the PLC can also switch off the power supply to the LARDIS Touch Wxx PC, and the switch contact used for shutdown can be opened again. There should be a sufficiently long delay (run-on time) between closing the switch contact to initiate shutdown and switching off the power supply; otherwise, there is a risk of data loss and potential damage to individual file systems if the power supply is switched off “hard”.
To switch the device back on later, simply restore the power supply via the PLC.
ℹ️ Available from version 6.x (Gen1 and Gen2) |
Handling is as described above, with the following addition:
From this version onwards, it is possible to shut down the Touch PC without prior login. Only the Desk software needs to be running (default: autostart).
